Ministry spokesperson Ani Akopyan stated that the decision was made a few days ago.
“Internationally, it is a more accepted term, and the decision was made to provide forecasts using the internationally accepted term since our international partners also use weather forecasts,” she explained.
Akopyan noted that the Constitution of Artsakh states that “the names Republic of Artsakh and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic are identical.”
When asked why the decision to change the name was made at this time, Akopyan said, “It is a more acceptable term internationally. There is no need to look for other implications.” She did not specify at what level this decision was made. She added that the department will continue to publish daily weather forecasts for Nagorno-Karabakh.
