The deputy director of one of the secondary schools in the city of Gavar lured approximately $800,000 from city residents, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee.
According to the case materials, the deputy director (referred to as N.A.) asked city residents for loans, exploiting their trust in him and his brother, a political figure. Additionally, the deputy director claimed that his brother had supposedly opened a bank where one could deposit money at an interest rate of 30% per year. Under this pretense, the deputy director lured various amounts from city residents, ranging from $3,000 to $400,000.
Six of the deceived citizens turned to the Investigative Committee, after which other episodes of fraud by N.A. were uncovered. In 2022-23, under different pretexts, he borrowed 1.2 million drams (approximately $3,100) and $15,000. He promised to return the money within a few days but failed to do so. A criminal case has been initiated.
