According to an Iranian diplomat, who spoke to Tehran-based journalist Said Azimi, Iran had paid the full cost of Su-35 fighter jets to Russia during President Rouhani’s second term, but the Russian side has not yet delivered the aircraft.
“While officials in Tehran continue to seek partnership with Russia, it is becoming increasingly apparent that Russian officials view their relationship with Iran merely as a card to be played according to their needs. The delivery of drones has contributed to Iran’s political isolation, creating an impression among Western officials of deepening cooperation between Russia and Iran, despite Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs insisting that Iran remains neutral in the war in Ukraine,” stated the diplomat.
